  CIMAM will hold its 58th Annual Conference in Harare, Zimbabwe from 20 to 22 November 2026, hosted by the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. This marks a historic milestone as it will be the first time the organization, the only global network representing museum directors and curators of modern and contemporary art, will hold its annual conference on the African continent.

• Museums Beyond Limits: Imagining Repair Across Cultures, Ecologies and Knowledges

  

  General Abstract and Program: In an era marked by planetary precarity, political volatility, and intensifying epistemic contestation, museums are being called to operate beyond inherited limits: of nation, discipline, and authority. The conference proposes repair as a radical, plural, and ongoing practice grounded in relationality, care, and accountability.
