"Being a CIMAM member will serve for me as an opportunity of extending my international network and also the Polish one, and be able to practice solidarity in those difficult times."

Ika Sienkiewicz-Nowacka, Head Artistic Residencies Department, Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Warsaw, Poland

Ika Sienkiewicz-Nowacka founded the U-jazdowski residencies (at that time A-I-R Laboratory) in 2003 as the first ongoing residency program in Poland and one of the leading residency programs in Central Europe.

Her research interests centre on the significance of residencies within the fields of artistic and institutional practice. She understands them as a medium for artistic practice that allows for the search for models of engagement other than exhibitions, that can lead to unexpected outcomes and respond to the changing world. She views curatorial practice as a tool to build creative situations and long-term relations. Since 2015 she is curating Everyday Forms of Resistancelong term project and the exhibition at Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art
