Karon Corrales Quiñonez

Biography

Karon Sabrina Corrales is a cultural producer and independent curator based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. In 2016, she co-founded LL Proyectos with artist and curator Leonardo González, an independent contemporary art initiative dedicated to fostering critical dialogue, artistic experimentation, and community-based practice. She previously served as Programme Manager at the Spanish Cultural Center in Tegucigalpa and Head of Programmes at the Museo del Hombre Hondureño, where she developed cultural and educational initiatives that strengthened the country's artistic ecosystem. Her work also includes long-term collaborations with displaced and Indigenous communities, supporting artistic projects that amplify local voices and collective forms of knowledge.

Corrales has participated in international residencies and collaborative programmes at Cove Park (Scotland), ARCOmadrid, Pinta Panamá, the 12th Berlin Biennale Curators Workshop, and the Prince Claus Fund's Cultural & Artistic Responses to the Environmental Crisis (CAREC) programme in Indonesia and the Netherlands, as well as projects in New York, Washington, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Honduras. In 2025, she was a CAREC Fellow supported by the Prince Claus Fund. Her work has received several international grants, including the Prince Claus Fund Seed Award, the Gwaertler Stiftung Grant, and support from the Foundation for Arts Initiatives (FfAI) for projects developed through LL Proyectos.

Through her curatorial practice, Corrales builds connections between local and international artistic contexts while deepening community engagement across Honduras and Central America. Her approach is collaborative and community-centered, drawing on self-organized methodologies that position art as a tool for political imagination, collective resistance, and social transformation. She is racing a practice of "non-knowing," she treats uncertainty as a productive space for generating shared knowledge and new forms of collaboration.
