About Aya Lurie

Aya Lurie, PhD, serves as Director and Chief Curator at HMOCA since 2014. Additionally, she curated exhibitions as an independent curator at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2000, 2003–2005, 2008) and worked in well-known regional museums in Israel (Bat-Yam, Petah-Tikva, and Ashdod), at the International Photography Festival, at the University Gallery in Tel Aviv, and more. Prior to that, she served as Chief Curator at the Shpilman Institute of Photography (2012–2014).

Aya holds a doctorate in art history from Tel Aviv University and held roles as a lecturer and academic advisor within the department of Museum Studies at Tel Aviv University; as an academic advisor and co-founder of the Israeli Art Studies at the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Academic College; and as a lecturer at Ben Gurion University in Israel.

From 2004 onwards she serves as a member of a variety of judging committees in the field of visual arts: the Israel Prize, the Wolf Prize, the EMT Award, the awards of the Israeli Ministry of Culture, the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, and more.
