The United Nations (UN) Climate Week provides a platform for organizations and individuals to come together sparking climate action through education, engagement, and collaboration. Museums and cultural institutions have a critical voice in advancing climate action. To increase solution-oriented imagining on museum strategies for fostering environmental sustainability, Parque Explora and the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) Environment Climate Network (ECN) will sponsor this webinar event.
Since the September event last year, we see more museums go green and net zero, setting new milestones in exhibit outreach, educational offerings, electronic communication, board awareness and building design and operation. During a one-hour live discussion, distinguished museum directors from different continents will engage in an insightful dialogue addressing their response to operational sustainability while preserving cultural heritage and inspiring, protecting and respecting their communities. Participants from around the globe will be tuned in to discover innovative practices and interact in the live Q&A.
The 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) is happening this November in Glasgow after COVID delay. It is more important than ever to inspire and energize participants committing to urgent climate action. 2021 has thus far witnessed extreme climate events, a pandemic that still holds a firm grip on our society and continuing civic unrest in communities. We are convening a leaders’ panel to advance carbon reduction, further diversity and inclusion, and inspire climate action from museums. #BuildingResilience for climate, people, and economy
