Keep the Conversation Going With CIMAM Connects

Keep the Conversation Going with CIMAM Connects!
At CIMAM, we believe that meaningful discussions should not end when a conference or other meeting concludes. Whether you attended the last CIMAM Annual Conference, participated in a Rapid Response Webinar, or wish to share your thoughts on any topic related to contemporary art museum practices, we invite you, as a CIMAM member, to continue the conversation in a CIMAM Connect session, a monthly informal online forum designed by and for our members, where you can exchange ideas and strengthen professional connections.
What is CIMAM Connects?
CIMAM Connects is a peer-led platform where CIMAM members can propose topics, exchange ideas, and engage in open dialogue on the pressing issues shaping the international museum and contemporary art landscape. These sessions can be moderated by CIMAM members, creating a truly collaborative and engaging space.
Launched in 2024, last year, we hosted four sessions of CIMAM Connects for our members, providing a platform to exchange views and perspectives on various topics. These included topics like Innovative Museum Exhibition Practices, the Evolution of Contemporary Art Museums, Social History, Art in Public Spaces, Community Participation, Sustainability, and Intersectionality.
This year, we invite you to suggest topics for our upcoming sessions!
How Can You Get Involved?
- Propose a topic – Suggest themes that matter to you or build on conversations initiated in Los Angeles or that matter to your practice.
- Lead a session – Kickstart a 1-hour peer-to-peer discussion with members from around the world.
- Stay connected – Strengthen relationships, gain new perspectives, and foster international collaboration.
Session Flow:
- Introductions (15 minutes): Each participant will briefly share their name, role, institution, and key points related to the topic.
- Group Discussions (30 minutes): If a participant has decided to lead the discussion, they can briefly introduce the topics they wish to explore or propose questions for the group.
- Open Debate (15 minutes): The group will have an open discussion to share the key takeaways from the debate, and participants may also propose topics for future sessions.
This structure promotes an informal, engaging, interactive, and participant-led conversation. If you plan to join any of these sessions, we encourage you to propose readings or ideas either in advance or after the conversation. These contributions will be shared as references and recommended readings on the topic.
Sessions will be scheduled in the second half of each month and will cover as many time zones as possible.
Sessions are not recorded.
Submit Your Proposal by February 20
If you have a topic in mind, we encourage you to send us a session title and a few lines of context, along with your preferred date and time. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule and provide support for the session.
A dedicated space on the CIMAM Members Only platform will also be available to share readings, references, and discussion materials before and after each session, ensuring that conversations continue to grow beyond the live meetings.
Let’s keep the conversation going and shape the future of our global museum community together!
