CIMAM 2024 in Los Angeles
Sustainable Futures
How? When? For Whom?
6 to 8 December 2024
Message from Clara Kim
Hi, I'm Clara Kim, board member and chair of the 2024 Content Committee for the CIMAM Conference and the Chief Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
I'm delighted to invite museum directors and curators of contemporary art from around the world to attend CIMAM's 56th Annual Conference in Los Angeles from December 6 to 8, co-hosted by MOCA, the Hammer Museum, LACMA, with major support from the Getty Foundation.
This year, we will address the theme, Sustainable Futures: How? When? For Whom? This CIMAM conference will be an exciting platform to explore sustainability from a holistic and integrated perspective, beginning with our desire to respond to climate change by reassessing our policies, rethinking the buildings we occupy and the cities we are part of, while also exploring innovative models for economic sustainability and community building.
The first day, I look forward to welcoming you to the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. The convening will begin with the keynote address by Los Angeles artist Mark Bradford, followed by sessions that deal with how museums are making lasting structural change to address climate change and create more sustainable futures. It will also explore how museums can be a vital part of the urban landscape, influencing neighborhoods, cities, and communities.
Join us for engaging discussions with leaders in the field, from curators and environmental strategists, to architects, artists, and other visionaries.
Don't miss this opportunity to participate in the international dialogue on sustainable practice in the art sector.
The 24 CIMAM conference will coincide with the Getty's ambitious initiative, PST Art, when art and science collide, featuring exhibitions across the entire Southern California region, exploring themes at the intersection of art and science from ancient cosmologies to indigenous sci-fi from environmental justice to artificial intelligence justice to artificial intelligence.
We look forward to welcoming you to Los Angeles in December.
