Victoria Noorthoorn, CIMAM Board Member and leader of this initiative, explained the new fees to CIMAM members during the 2022 General Assembly, held in Palma de Mallorca on the occasion of the CIMAM Annual Conference, to provide a more equitable scheme aligned with ICOM. The revised dues were approved and will apply for the next membership three-year period 2023-25.

This initiative responds to CIMAM's aim to be more equitable and inclusive, with dues adjusted to the different geo-economic realities of professionals worldwide.

The update of CIMAM's membership fees consists of aligning with ICOM and using the same dues criteria by country, according to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita by Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), ensuring equal access to CIMAM for all professionals around the world.

The new scheme is organized into two types of membership with a more diversified range of fee groups:

  • To Individual Members, CIMAM offers four different rates to individuals based on their country's GDP PPP.
  • For Institutional Members, CIMAM will offer six different fees based on the GDP PPP* of their country and the operating budget of the museum/institution.

The new dues will be applied during the next membership three-year term (2023-25) and collected from CIMAM members by direct debit in December 2022.

CIMAM members pay the three years' dues in a single settlement. Members will pay for two years if they join or renew in 2024. And in 2025, members will pay for one year.
