About Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC)
The Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) opened its doors as a public, university-based museum of contemporary art in November 2008. Since then, they have formed an active part of the Centro Cultural at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). It is a center for the construction of knowledge and encounters, where conversations about society, academia and art history take place.
The collection preserves and studies pieces produced by Mexico-based artists starting in 1952 - the year that Ciudad Universitaria was inaugurated. MUAC is pioneer in the conservation of memory by revitalizing art collecting in the country. The museum currently holds 2185 pieces by over 300 artists, 60 documentary holdings and 7 documentary collections.
