The Baroque inspired building, built by the Morell family in the mid-18th century, is one of the last stately homes to be erected in Palma. The layout is attributed to the Mallorcan architect Gaspar Palmer, while the wrought ironwork and sculptural decoration are the work of the Italian artist Antonio Soldati. In 1985 it was inaugurated as an Exhibition and Documentation Centre for Contemporary Art, managed by the Palma City Council. Casal Solleric is a center of art and culture committed to its time, open to the citizen in the broad sense, a center of and for the city and all people that they inhabit it, and with the will to be a generator of democratic culture, understanding the visitors not only as consumers but as producers of culture and thought critical, a center that becomes a live and participatory referent, the engine of the emerging local art and plugin with national and international referents, a center of art and thought with the will to generate content needed to boost local creation and rethink.

It hosts temporary exhibitions, performance programs and educational and mediation activities. Current exhibition: What conditions your fictions? By Javier Peñafiel. Co-curated by Lorenza Pignatti and Aina Bausà.
