The Śmiechowski Family Foundation has been a Major Patron of CIMAM since October 2025

The Śmiechowski Family Foundation was established in 2023 to manage the Family's estate. One of its primary mission is to protect and develop the art collection, which began to be assembled in the late 1960s. The collection is to become a seed of a new museum, located in Warsaw and scheduled to open in 2030. Initially, the collection focused on Polish painting from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Over time, it began to expand to include works by contemporary Polish artists, and more recently, to include works representing global contemporary art. The mission of the museum, based on this collection, is to integrate local artistic heritage into a global and contemporary cultural context, thereby activating its future-oriented potential, provoking its critical reassessment, and creating a space for intercultural dialogue and reflection on the most pressing issues facing the world today. The objectives are to be achieved through further globalizing the collection, experimentation with forms of its display and making public, an intensive program of temporary exhibitions based on international exchange, and consistently developed public, educational, research and publishing programs.

The Founders of the museum are Wojciech Śmiechowski and Anna Filipowicz, who have long been involved in collecting and supporting artistic communities and museum institutions. They both serve on committees and associations such as Centre Pompidou International Circle-Global, Amis Centre Pompidou, Tate Modern Central and Eastern Europe Plus Acquisition Committee, The Friends of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, The Friends of the Museum of Warsaw, The Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts. Anna is also a co-founder and Chairwoman of the Museum of Warsaw Foundation.
