• UN Climate Change Partners with Global Visual Arts Sector to Increase Climate Action

  

  UN Climate Change News, 19 April 2024 – UN Climate Change announced today that the global Art Charter for Climate Action (ACCA) will join its efforts to unite the arts and entertainment sectors in transformative climate action. The announcement was made at The Hope Forum held during the 60th Venice Biennale international art exhibition.

• Open Call for Nominations: CIMAM Outstanding Museum Practice Award 2024

  

  CIMAM seeks to recognize Outstanding Museum Practices that shape the future of modern and contemporary art museums. The nomination process will be open from March 18 to August 30, 2024.

• The CIMAM Award for Outstanding Museum Practices 2023 recognizes the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Panamá

  

  CIMAM's OMPA 2023 recipient is "CHAGRES: Nomadic Residencies Program" by the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Panamá. The CIMAM Award for Outstanding Museum Practices recognizes exceptional practices around the world that champion innovation, accessibility, public exchange, and sustainability within the modern and contemporary art museum sector.

  22 September 2023. CIMAM joins Art Charter for Climate Action, an alliance committed to developing a charter that aligns the global art sector with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the goals of the United Nations Paris Agreement.

• How Modern and Contemporary Art Museums are Responding to Sustainable Development Goals

  

  PR 18 May, 2023 – CIMAM, the International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art, announces the incorporation of social and economic aspects of sustainability into its Toolkit on Environmental Museum Practices. This significant update is the result of a study led by the CIMAM’s Working Group on Sustainability and Ecology in Museum Practice.

  The CIMAM Board announces three museums as recipients of the second edition of the Outstanding Museum Practices Award during the CIMAM 2022 Annual Conference in Palma de Mallorca, Spain

• A set of Ethical Clauses of Governance to protect and support museums and their staff

  

  These clauses are intended to address the growing vulnerabilities museums face in relation to interference, increasingly political, from their ‘Founders’ or ‘Governing Bodies’ which can undermine the Museum’s mission and values and their ability to operate with the curatorial independence required to create an open space in civil society.
