Enriching encounters with the Argentine art scene at the 55th Annual Buenos Aires Conference
CIMAM wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation to the Museo Moderno de Buenos Aires, its esteemed Associate Partners, and the numerous artists, galleries, archives, museums, and foundations that graciously hosted more than 240 international delegates from 160 institutions across 51 countries during this year's CIMAM Annual Conference in Buenos Aires.
The great collaboration led by the Museo Moderno de Buenos Aires, among its Associate Partners, including the Ama Amoedo Foundation, the AMALITA Collection, the Proa Foundation, Malba, ArtHaus, Andrea Arditti Schwartz and Amigos del Museo Moderno, and the more than 700 artists, over 50 galleries, 15 archives, 12 museums and 10 foundations, allowed the international delegates to the CIMAM Conference to gain an in-depth understanding of Argentina's vibrant art scene.
The 55th edition of CIMAM's Annual Conference was a whirlwind of joy that fostered enriching meetings and passionate encounters between global delegates and the vibrant local art scene. The diverse programming and artistic offerings allowed international visitors to fully immerse themselves in the local art scene, exploring artists' studios with passionate curiosity.
The Museo Moderno de Buenos Aires initiated this experience a year earlier by extending an open invitation to all art spaces in Buenos Aires. Collaboratively designing programs for November 2023 ensured the visibility of numerous working Argentine artists. The Friday Breakfasts on San Juan Avenue, organized by the Museo Moderno de Buenos Aires, provided curators and art galleries a platform to share their plans.
Simultaneously, the Museo Moderno orchestrated the groundbreaking Rolling Map of Argentine Contemporary Art, launched in October 2023. This platform features portfolios and profiles of over 720 artists, 12 museums, 10 foundations, 50 galleries, and 15 archives. It is a creative glossary encouraging exploration based on interests or desires.
As a culmination of these efforts, the Modern Museum invited all CIMAM Annual Conference participants to study the Rolling Map and share their interests. Based on feedback from all delegates, the museum's curatorial team meticulously developed tailored itineraries for each participant. The result: over 25 guided tours with more than 180 participants, offering a deep dive into the rich tapestry of the Argentine art scene.
In conclusion, the collective work of the Breakfasts, the tireless calls to artists and art spaces, and the meticulous planning paid off, as delegates from around the world explored the Argentine art scene both online and in person.
Once again, CIMAM sincerely thanks the Museo Moderno de Buenos Aires and our incredible partners for making the 55th Annual Conference an unforgettable experience.
