"Joining the CIMAM Board broadens your perspective on museum practice"

Message from Agustín Pérez-Rubio, member of the CIMAM Board and Independent Curator from Madrid, Spain, encouraging CIMAM members to run for election to the CIMAM Board for the 2026-28 term.

I’ve had the experience of serving on the CIMAM Board for the past nine years. As I approach the end of my final term, I want to encourage you to consider applying to join the Board.

Being part of the CIMAM Board offers a unique opportunity to broaden your perspective on the modern and contemporary museum practice, not only within your own region and institutional context, but also on a truly global scale. It’s an enriching experience that allows you to engage directly with colleagues, institutions, and primary sources, museums from across the world. You gain knowledge, yes, but more importantly, you put that knowledge into practice, giving back your insights and expertise to help shape the future of museums.

Serving on the Board allows you to contribute your experience, your network, and your vision to help museums become more ethical, more sustainable, and more connected to the communities they serve. It’s a chance to align with CIMAM’s mission and help strengthen museums as spaces for learning, care, and critical dialogue.
