CIMAM Board Members to participate in the Culture & Museums International Tech Forum, Malaga
CIMAM Board members Suhanya Raffel, President of CIMAM and Director of M+, Hong Kong, Malgorzata Ludwisiak, Artistic Director of the Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw, Kamini Sawhney, Director of the Museum of Art and Photography, Bangalore, and Leevi Haapala, Director of Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki, will participate in the Symposium on Cultural Ecosystems in the Digital Age to be held in Malaga, Spain, June 19-20.
The event will address aspects related to cultural ecosystems in the digital age, strategic aspects of artistic and cultural mediation (outward), diverse experiences and digital solutions related to sustainability and other concerns (inwards). The Symposium will also highlight the need for cultural entities to attend to transversal agendas linked to the universal and the community.
Throughout various panel discussions, the Symposium will delve into the relationship between culture and contemporary society through a world interconnected by digital systems. It will address the construction of new digital habitats that combine heritage value with artists' and thinkers' analytical and critical thinking. The Symposium will also explore how museums and centers of cultural production can contribute to the process of transformation of a society that, although it has easy access to technological tools, finds it more challenging to approach the reflective, sensory, and creative experience represented by art and culture as a whole.
CIMAM has collaborated in developing the content of Topic 5 On_The Museum as Production Space and Technological Reinvention, New curatorial models. The panel discussion titled "Embracing new Technologies to support Resilience in the Museum" will feature CIMAM Board Members, including Suhanya Raffel, President of CIMAM and Director M+ Hong Kong, Malgorzata Ludwisiak, Artistic Director of the Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw, and Kamini Sawhney, Director of the Museum of Art & Photography, Bangalore.
Leevi Haapala, Director, Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki, Finlandia and Board Member of CIMAM, will participate in Topic 3 On_Digital Strategies for the New Museum, with panelists Marlies Wirth, Curator Digital Culture and Head of Design Collection, Museum of Applied Arts and Contemporary Art MAK, Vienna, Austria, and Hilary Knight, Senior Advisor, AEA Consulting, London, UK
The Symposium is an opportunity for CIMAM members to explore the potential of technology to improve the social impact of culture and shape our technological habitat, humanizing it.
