We are pleased to welcome Marianna van der Zwaag to CIMAM!
"In today’s world, I strongly believe in the importance of staying connected—both internationally and locally— and I believe in art as a catalyst for connections and conversations. This connection is crucial for fostering awareness and driving meaningful change”.
Marianna van der Zwaag, Curator, De Oude Kerk, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
"I feel it is important to stay connected, with colleagues, students and peers from all over the world, to discuss issues that are relevant for museums today. Its evolving role, serving as platforms for engagement and transformation. CIMAM allows me to reach out more and stay connected”.
About Marianna
Marianna van der Zwaag studied art history (MA) at the University of Amsterdam and is a curator at Oude Kerk in Amsterdam. There she combines contemporary art and heritage in a current and compelling way. Her curatorial practice stems from a strong belief that times cannot be seen separately but are of greater importance when viewed in conjunction and context of one another. Moreover, she has a strong belief in the critical potential of art and art’s capacity to profoundly affect the way we look at – and shape the world around us. From 2017 onwards she has been revitalizing Welcome Stranger where she is developing art in everyday life, working from artists’ own house.
