Presentation of CIMAM 2025 OMPA Awardees
On Day 1, CIMAM Board Member Suzanne Cotter, Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia and Chair of the OMPA Committee, presented the fifth edition of the CIMAM Outstanding Museum Practice Award (OMPA).
The OMPA Committee members have selected three remarkable institutions for their clearly intentioned and impactful practices that reinforce the core values and purposes of museums through creative collaboration with museum professionals, communities, artists, and the public.
- Museo Barda del Desierto (mBDD), Northern Patagonia, Argentina. Practice: mBDD Architectural Project
- Bergen Kjøtt Foundation, Bergen, Norway. Practice: GRIP
- The Palestinian Museum, Birzeit, Palestine. Practice: Gaza Remains the Story
These awardees demonstrate how museums can reinforce their core values through collaborative work with artists, communities, and cultural stakeholders, offering inspiring examples of relevance and purpose in contemporary museum practice.
Suzanne Cotter remarks:

At a time of immense uncertainties and challenges in the world, the Award is a celebration and also a signal of promise and potential for the museum as an institution that can make a positive and productive difference to people and communities and to be agents of affirmation and humanity.”
This year, the OMPA received 48 nominations from museums around the world, reflecting the creativity, innovation, and resilience of institutions working across highly diverse cultural and geographic contexts.
