Day 2 motto: Mapping Desires
Speaker Day 2 Onome Ekeh, Writer, Filmmaker, Lecturer, Academy of Art & Design, Basel, Switzerland.
"The Networked Museum: Lessons from Finding Nemo"
In her talk, “The Networked Museum: Lessons from Finding Nemo,” Ekeh revisits Pixar’s 2003 animated classic to draw out a resonant metaphor: the ocean not as a single vast expanse, but as a vibrant web of currents, signals, encounters, and interdependent communities. Marlin’s journey reveals an ecosystem built on connection. A story spreads, mutates, and gathers force across species and environments, becoming myth through circulation.
Through this lens, Ekeh invites us to rethink the museum as a node rather than a center. What might it mean for museums to shift from guardians of objects to generators of narratives, relationships, and collective imaginaries?
