Day 2 motto: Mapping Desires

Speaker Day 2 Francesco Manacorda, Director, Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, Turin, Italy.

Manacorda reflects on a question inspired by philosopher and natural scientist Piotr Kropotkin: ecosystems facing instability and scarcity of resources can survive only when collaboration and mutual support become strategic priorities. How might these principles apply to artistic institutions within a specific territory? This question has guided an ongoing dialogue and series of experiments among leading contemporary art institutions in the Turin region.

In recent years, Castello di Rivoli, Fondazione Merz, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, GAM Torino, MAO, OGR Torino, and Pinacoteca Agnelli have been working together to form a shared cultural ecosystem—an inter-institutional ecosystem grounded in common values, trust, and a desire to redefine what collaboration can look like.

Their collaboration focuses on several key areas: strategic alignment and advocacy, resource optimization and asset sharing, collective negotiation with suppliers, as well as the possibility of joined programming and coordinated promotion.
