Elizabeth Ann Macgregor OBE, Director, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia and President of CIMAM introduces CIMAM's 2019 Annual Conference that will be held in Sydney 15–17 November titled “The 21st Century Art Museum: Is Context Everything?”
The 21st Century Art Museum: Is Context Everything?
It will address the evolving relationship between core museological practices and values and the necessary responsiveness of museums to context in their drive to remain relevant, innovative and accessible.

The conference will be comprised of international keynote speakers, perspective presentations, panel discussions, as well as a networking session and a discussion workshop.
Here you will find a preliminary schedule for the three-day conference. It includes the speaker presentations' timetable and the afternoon visits to a number of Sydney's foremost contemporary art institutions.
18-19 November. A post-conference tour has been organized to Brisbane and Stradbroke Island. The two-day optional program will include visits to QAGOMA, Milani Gallery and Artist Studios and Institute of Modern Art. It will conclude with guided tours by Aboriginal custodians on country.
The CIMAM 2019 Contents Committee consists of eight board members: Elizabeth Ann Macgregor (chair), Frances Morris, Mami Kataoka, Ann-Sofi Noring, Saskia Bos, Suzanne Cotter, Corinne Diserens and Eugene Tan.
