About the Ural Biennial

The Ural Biennial is the largest art project in the Ural region, which is held every two years at large non-exhibitional spaces.

The mission of Biennial is exploring the concept of the industry both as heritage and as actual practice in the Ural region and propose new ways of existence for Urals. The 5th Ural Biennial is going to be held on 12th September and will last until December 1st 2019 in Ekaterinburg (mainly) and cities of Ural and Siberia regions. The key topic and conceptual framework of current Biennial is 'Immortality'.

As for the location of the Main Project, it will take place at the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant. The title of the Main Project is 'The Bifurcation of Future'. The project’s purpose is to call into question a homogenous technological future, explore and present different options of aesthetic and technological vision.

The exhibition is held at the existing plant, so the permit system has its own characteristics. The stay at the plant for foreign visitors should be confirm with security services. To get to the exhibition, foreign visitors should register on the website uralbiennale.ru later than two weeks before planned visit. The registration form will open in July.
