The CIMAM Board is an active and dynamic group of 15 members that serve on a voluntary basis for three years to represent the interests of CIMAM, the international committee of more than 660 modern and contemporary art museum professionals.

Becoming a Board member is a great opportunity to shape the future of the sector by helping CIMAM to advance its mission and provide the expertise to expand its global network, influence, and programs.

During their three-year tenure, the members of the Board are in constant contact through e-mail conversations that are coordinated by the executive team of CIMAM. The President and the Secretary-Treasurer are the busiest board members. They oversee the everyday operations and projects of CIMAM.

Some of the Board functions are running working groups and contributing to the development of the different programs, recruiting new members, ensuring the committee’s financial success by identifying funding opportunities, and representing CIMAM and its membership within the profession worldwide. The Board is also encouraged to attend the Annual Conference each year and to actively participate by leading the different sessions and panel discussions proposed.

Who can join the Board?

Any member of CIMAM who is an active museum professional or former museum professional (with at least 5 years of museological career), a curator, or an academic museologist is eligible for election to the Board.

Candidatures to the Board may be submitted by any active member of CIMAM*. The number of Board members will not exceed 15, of which 80% should hold leadership positions in modern and contemporary art museums.

*Voting members are those who have paid for their 2020–22 CIMAM membership fees.

The 2023–25 Board of Directors will be announced at the CIMAM General Assembly which will take place on Sunday 13 November 2022 at Es Baluard Museu d'Art Contemporani de Palma (Mallorca).
