The Box, Plymouth is a £40m. museum, contemporary art gallery and secure home for 6 archives and collections, which is being built adjacent to the University of Plymouth and Plymouth College of Art. Plymouth is at the heart of the national Mayflower 400 commemorations and The Box will be its flagship legacy project. With funding secured from the City Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England, The Box aspires to deliver an ongoing programme of international significance. It needs also to be a commercial success and to be a much loved destination which attracts frequent repeat visits.

Head of Contemporary Arts

In this new role, The Box is seeking an exceptional curator/artistic leader with a track record for producing innovative and high quality contemporary arts programmes of critical acclaim.  Responsible for the creative vision and development of the Contemporary Art Programme, they will have the reputation and ability to command the respect of the national contemporary arts community and to provide the leadership to the staff team, major stakeholders and partners across the city.

Head of Commerce, Development and Operations
Salary: £52k+, with good benefits
Contract: Permanent, reporting to the CEO

In this new role, The Box is seeking an exceptional business leader with a track record for delivering innovative solutions for commercial enterprise and for the operations of a cultural centre which includes an in-house shop, a contracted-out bistro/bar and an active programme of events and venue hires. The postholder will also be responsible for a team that includes marketing, PR, fundraising and support functions such as front of house and business administration. Like a challenge?
