Ai Weiwei is one of the most evocative creators in contemporary China whose practices diverse from art, architecture, design to publishing and curating. “Ai Weiwei: According to What?” explores his major works since 1990s in three essential concepts “Fundamental Forms and Volumes,” “Structure and Craftsmanship” and “Reforming and Inheriting Tradition,” aiming to see what is underlying in his interdisciplinary practices.


At the same time, this exhibition will give an unique insights into the cultural, historical, and societal contexts from which Ai’s creation is emerged. This in turn prompts questions in the viewer: What exists? And more importantly, according to what does it exist? From what context did we emerge, and to where are we headed now?
